Cyborg DNA

An experiment in infinite progress.
"The body will takes it time, in ways we can not imagine into our known agenda."

A futuristic performance installation, where categories become fluid.

In Cyborg DNA Robin Nimanong questions the border between technology and (gender) identity. A search for a language and the struggle against the illusion that there is one social code that contains all meanings.

Digital art, synthesizer music and contemporary dance melt together in a futuristic performance installation, based on Donna Haraway's famous Cyborg Manifesto. This radical essay from 1985 turned thinking about the distinction between men and women, nature and technology on its head. Together with queer performers, Robin Nimanong explores themes such as self-care and activism.

Cyborg DNA is a collaboration between dance artist and creative producer Robin Nimanong with digital artist Lux Nautilus. The performance installation was nominated for the DNA NEXT! Incentive Prize 2022.

Robin: β€œIt is a journey of healing into new communication and experiences. It became a space where I feel larger then so called limits or errors, everyone with their own long-life-learning process. Together we created intersectional discoveries, not pressured by an identity label or category. An important inspiration for this research is the text Cyborg Manifesto from Donna Haraway, where she suggests about how language evolves over time, influenced by new technological discoveries.”.
